Pause - breathing too fast
I find the pause videos seem quick in terms of the breathing pattern. Does anyone else?
The speed of the breathing pattern is something we continue to experiment with so that we can match it to each user’s preference and/or context. We get feedback that it is too fast, too slow and also just right. Kinda like the 3 bears! We’re aiming to be just right for each person … which means adding the ability to speed it up or slow it down based on personal preference and context. If you can tell us how fast your inhales and exhales are, that’d help! And if you think it is different given context, or goal, please include that as well. We think we have a long ways to go to add the features and content needed to really nail this as a personalize experience, and people kindly sharing their personal experience and preference with us helps us get there sooner and more attuned :-)

Maybe a little. It is important to remember those with certain conditions like high blood pressure should not have long pauses between breaths.

Hope it's clean and simple like rest of app if u do add it. For people who want to adjust and vary breathing times there's Relax2Breathe. Wait I think it's Breathe2Relax. Does just this-variable breathing times. I like mindful
As is! -

I agree. My times are inhale 4-5s, pause 2s, exhale 6-8s. Most helpful would be gradual slowing but that's hard. I like the idea of a count in or take two slowing breaths before starting. The pause has been one of the most helpful things to me - thank you for all the improvements you've made already. One idea might be to make a pause option that doesn't speak the breathe in and out but just guides w a phrase like , focus in, fill belly/chest, breathe slowly and steadily w all intention on your breath' type thing

The rapid breathing cycle is very distracting. I've had the same experience (and the opposite!) in face-to-face guided meditation. In that case, though, you have time to attune your breath. It seems to me, it would work better to cue people to take a few breaths and play the video a few seconds longer. Above all, eliminate the timer.

I find I can adjust my breathing period as needed (useful in itself) but there isn't time to do so and settle into a rhythm. Perhaps a count in period before starting? And also, perhaps a choice in settings to vary the period (by fixed degrees if that's necessary for you - i.e. slow/medium/fast - or whatever words eork best)

When I'm relaxed I'm breathing in for around 7 seconds, holding it for a second or two and then breathing out for around 10 seconds. When I'm not so relaxed it can be half those times or even less. I'm doing breathing exercises to shift my breathing from chest breathing to diaphragmatic breathing and then a different set of exercises to slowly lengthen the breath. So it'll be really good to have different speeds to choose from and if it's possible maybe a combination of speeds that gradually get slower so you can lengthen your breath.

Yes, it currently seems a bit too fast. I inhale for at least 4 seconds, Pause, and then exhale for about 5 - 6. Thank you for this awesome app! I look forward to the time when it sync's acrossed all of my devices so my logs and settings are no longer different and disconnected. :)

Yes too fast for me too, although I appreciate the difficulty as everyone will breathe at a different rate. For this type of exercise I tend to inhale for 5-7 seconds and exhale for 7-9 seconds. Again, this is the rate I would do for this type of exercise, not necessarily my daily rate.

Thanks for your reply. I think my inhale is about 4 seconds, but then I try and pause a second or two before taking about 7 or 8 seconds to exhale. Admittedly this isn't my normal pace of breathing but I guess I'd expect to be taking deeper breaths when using this feature, to try and slow my breathing, especially the exhale.
